Guidelines to regulate Internet content soon: Govt
Guidelines will ensure that blasphemous content is not part of any
platform on the Internet

New Delhi: Reacting heavily on the blasphemous content being uploaded
on various internet platforms, Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal on Tuesday
said the government will make guidelines to regulate it.
"We will certainly formulate guidelines to ensure that such
blasphemous content is not part of any platform," the Minister told
reporters here.
However, he did not give any timeframe for that. "Allow us some time,
we will let you know."
Sibal said the government is very concerned about the blasphemous
content being posted on different websites, which hurts people,
especially religious communities.
Sibal said his Ministry had asked companies like Google, Yahoo,
Microsoft and Facebook to suggest ways how to control the content.
In this regard, Sibal met senior functionaries of these websites on
Monday and asked them to evolve a mechanism to filter such content
that could create social tension.
