One of my friends is doing data conversion projects on his PC. He gets scanned pages in image formats and converts it to text. pdf to txt jpg to txt tif to txt To convert those scanned pages, he extracts the text from those images using some OCR tools like Abby Fine Reader in MS Windows. He wishes to do those things in GNU/Linux. Can anybody suggest any image/document manipulation/conversion tools on GNU/Linux which can be used for this purpose.
