Hi Siju,
Well, i am aware that i have a non-free BIOS. And actually, Mr.Thomas
and myself had discussed this matter with RMS himself face to face, when he
came to St.Joseph's college, Pala. Well, the thing is there are some technical
issues (regarding loading of some hardware activation modules) or something (i
really dint get what he said actually... ) which makes it very very hard to
make Free-BIOS work. Please let me know if i am wrong in this case... :)... Any
suggestions are welcome :)..
But one thing i came to know is that RMS uses a "Lemote Yeeloong" net
book which can run Free-BIOS also. It contains the famous Loongson processor,
which was developed completely in China itself. I had read about this processor
once in a techblog.. And the best thing is... Only GNU/Linux is now capable of
running on it, bcoz the chinese people had customized the kernel to run on it
(Thanks once again for being Free Software).
China is an excellent example of what India should be aiming at. I am
not talking about Communism or Politics here and i am not interested in that
topic. What i am talking about is Technological Independence and also the
efficiency of work there. That country is zooming ahead of even the Developed
countries (Who actually developed by exploiting others once...).
And also, the only market in the world where Google is having a tough time
getting in and working out. Well, i think even if all the major tech companies
in the world fall... China will still remain :). They are becoming self
dependent.
Warm Regards,
S.Sreekanth
