Hello,

With regard to very recent conversations with some active openstreetmappers
in India, we have found the importance of localized maps. Digital maps in
local languages is perhaps one thing that people haven't seen. This leads to
a realization of supporting OpenStreetMap (openstreetmap.org) to have data
of Kerala in Malayalam. And might lead people to use these maps in
unexpected ways.

The above link is just to egg the discussion on.

This has been proved to be a success in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka where there
is development streams on the same.
Why don't we try to incorporate this venture so that SMC can help the font
rendering and support in better ways?

I suggest to take the upcoming SMC camp to stage the requirements and see
what the community can do for localization of maps.

Regards.
