Hai all,
I do agree to the thing that we should do it in corporate style. And
teaching people how to earn a living out of it will also help in making general
people adopt FOSS. Its a very valid point. And to mr.anoop, what i would like
to say is...like me, there are thousands of people out there who kept their
hands on FOSS and had to go back to Windows just because they dint know how to
play their favorite movies or songs and also due to frequent crashes of certain
software (they dont know that there is somthing called a stable and unstable
version of a software usually). So if its about business model, quality does
definitely matter. And about business model plan, i am totally agreeing with it.
Regards,
S.Sreekanth

one more point
we should go forward in a corporate style. this is where non commercial
initiatives fail.
in the corporate scenario people are focussed on one thing. similarly
we should set a focus and goals.
for eg: contact 1000 people by a ceratin time and tell them about free
software .
this is only an example.
has the lug cochin group ever tried to contact the computer society
chapter in kochi or trivandrum. they were also taking up initiatives to
popularise linux.
IT Expo 2006 and IT Expo 2007 (First ILUG Cochin Stall) was conducted
with the help of CSIS.
After that we had contacted them several times, but have not recieved
any favourable response.
Of course this is due to the heavy burden of their activities. Hope
ILUG Cochin can
participate in this years IT Expo.
Thank You
