Hi,

First of all am using ubuntu, never used PCLinux at all, so dont know what
is the file layout of that OS. What i am going to say is on the basis of
ubuntu linux .. Just try it.

In most cases X server error will be obtained from /var/log/messages. You
are saying that you are not able to loggin to X server, so i am hopping that
you can get the command prompt. Just switch to tty1 in ubutu Alt+Ctrl+F1
will do that. Hope you can login to that prompt.

In that prompt just try
#startx -- :2
That will start X server, if there any error that will be printed on the
screen. Also in /var/log/messages .

Just send that full error reprt, so that i can help you.

Thank you

Regards

With regards,
