To
The Linux Community,

Attendees : 7
Venue : Internet Club, Broadway
Date : 28th November 2004
Time : 2 pm

As usual the meeting was kicked off the Agenda 'Altix & Supercomputing', the
progress of
ALtix into HPC. This is one of the areas where Linux has been consistently out
performing any commercial operating system to reach super computing speeds. The
users
include NASA, Ford Motor Company, Roechester University, Total, the oil giant.
This
opens up the possibility for aspiring Linux entrants for opportunities which
have not
been provided by any other OS.

The Second part of the meeting of the meeting continued with a demonstration of
the
installation of Debian Sarge. With the ease of use of debian Sarge being
expalined by
Balakrishnan Sir and that only two questions were asked in the whole of the
installation, this had all the users satisfied that a flawless install could
take place
even with newbies.

After this we had a general discussion on the Community and the role that it
played in
the Linux Development/Commercial activity. It was agreed that the community was
producing a alot of free software for both the community as well as commercial
entities.
It was found that the community never received anything return for what it had
produced,
therefore a method to give the community returns, just as would the commercial
entities,
it was decided to find methods by which the community itself would be able to
find
methods to make some returns from the software that it produces and in turn
help the
community to produce better software and to have the rescources to continue the
work
being done by the community. It was decided that a special meeting be conducted
on the
5th of December at 2 pm to discuss this and to find ways and means to do this.

This ended the meeting of November 2004
