I bought one of those 4 years ago. It was a cheap Chinese knockoff, low-end hardware even for the day. It was running a stripped-down version of Ubuntu 8 for ARM. It was slow, but it worked! A Linux e-reader! And it did many other things too. Like play games, browse the web and when properly coaxed even play videos. The problem is that the battery no longer holds a charge, and the charger broke. So it's pretty much a brick now.
