On Thursday I opened kaddressbook (4.8.2-3.mga2), only to find a blank page. Going to System Settings > Personal I discovered that my address accounts had disappeared, so I re-created them, one pointing to the old std.vcf file, and one to ~/.local/share/contacts. I find that they are marked read-only, and I can't change that - the checkbox appears to clear, but when saved it is still read-only. Since then I have discovered that kmail also is blank. The resources are still there, and correct, but all attempts to get them to display in kmail have failed. I also get notices that kmail is off-line, but again that can't be changed. Up to now Kontact has been somewhat troublesome, but usable when I needed it, but something is terribly wrong this time, I have checked ownerships and permissions, just in case, and everything else I can think of. Is this the end of the line for Kontact, or something changed in my system without my knowledge?
