Hi Janet, I usually do this by pressing option right arrow until I get to the end of the track. then I press left arrow by itself a couple of times. I then press space bar and the sound starts just a bit before the end of the sound.
You could also press command G and bring up the go to dialogue. Then enter the time that brings you near the end of the recording. I hope these tips help.
