So command+enter on the link doesn't open it in a new tab? For the links
I tried that seemed to work. The contextual menu should work fine as
well but it's more keystrokes to get there.

Quicknav, by pressing left and down arrow at the same time. Now hit
left arrow untill you get to the disired tab. Select it. now cmd w
