I have the same setup as you’d like to have.
How I did it was.
1. I plugged in my drive and went to disk utility.
2. I went to the partition tab, and in the disk table, I selected the 2 TB WD
My Passport 0748 Media drive.
3. I clicked on the partition layout button, and selected 2 partitions.
4. In the scrowl area, I interacted, and VO left arrowed o the partition, and
VO plus spaced on it.
5. I stopped interacting, and in the name field, I put a name, for example.
MBP_Backup.
6. I repeated the process for the second partition, leaving the size controls
alone for both partitions, and putting in the names that I wanted for both
partitions.
7. You should find an options button, and if you click on it, it will have the
GU I D partition table option selected by default.
8. Click on apply, then on I believe it would be, ok.
It will erase the drive and make it Mac extended, with the G U I D table
partition format, and will create the 2 partitions you want while formatting
the MyPassport to Mac format.
Good luck. If you need help further, let me know.
