Until I updated to iOS 7.03 last night, I always said “period” when ending a sentence when dictating. Today, I noticed, (luckily before sending a message) that the word “period” was there instead of the symbol. This was rather annoying, until I surmised that perhaps I should say “full stop” — which I know is what it is called outside of the U.S. by most. That did indeed work . . . and I concluded this was happening because I always use the Australian or Irish English voices. But, as a test, I switched to U.S. English — and it is still the case. Now I am trying to get myself in the habit of saying “full stop” and it is proving difficult. HTH if any other Americans have been stymied by this. Christine
