Yes, Ricardo is correct here. The issue is that the list of possible Startup Disks is not accessible when using this method. You could certainly determine the right number of arrow presses to make it work for you though. Essentially, this is just an alternative method of choosing a different Startup Disk instead of using system Prefs.
