Hello, Greg.

That information is helpful. I took a really quick look at Blackboard on my
Mac Book Pro and was pleasantly surprised. As a matter of fact, VO was the
only screen reader I've used so far that told me I was viewing bread crumbs
on the site. For those who don't know, bread crumbs are links on a Web site
that help you retrace your steps so you can get back to where you were
earlier in a session. I'm sure this is a painfully simple explanation to
some, but I figure it will suffice here. I will be interested in comparing
some more complex tasks using Windows and the Mac. Who knows. There may even
be a discussion on the SeroTalk Podcast Network's Triple-click Home podcast
at some point. Again for those who don't know, I produce that podcast.
Several of the team members are on this list as well.

Take care and have a great weekend.

I can't speak to the accessibility from an instructor's point of view, but
both my grad school and current employer use blackboard as a way of posting
info. Most things are accessible, even though some may be cumbersome.
Finding files to download and announcements are fairly simple to do.
Posting to discussion boards and managing threads are more cumbersome but
doable. Hope this is helpful.

my class. Fortunately, I am not required to use many of the functions of
Blackboard. A very basic use of the system is all that is required. While
Blackboard is definitely accessible on Windows especially when using NVDA
and Jaws, it takes quite a bit of work to really learn to use the system
with a screen reader. I am perfectly happy to use Windows to access
Blackboard unless the site works significantly better with Safari on the
Mac. Are there any instructors on this list who can shed some light on the
subject? The student perspective is welcome as well, but I especially wish
to hear from instructors. I've been a part of mailing lists long enough to
not be upset by dead silence, so if nobody has any words of wisdom for me, I
am ok with a complete lack of response on this thread.
