Thank you, Tim. The suggestion to download and install the update manually did the trick, although at first, I didn't think so. I opened the program and got that same error message about how the library file could not be read, but then when I clicked on the quit button, the only choice other than download itunes, the program opened and all seems to be well now. Thank heavens!
