Okay, here's what I'm doing under the latest version of 10.8.4. 1. Using VO+right, navigated just to the right of the "message column area". There's a verticle spiter there.
2. Routed the mouse to this using VO+shift+5. 3. Double click the physical trackpad with track pad commander turned off. message flags still not showing. There appear to be two verticle spitters. 1 to the left and one to the right of the message colum area. The only horizontle splitter is just to the left of the "Mail activity" area.
