Hi, Jessica, You don't have to play with a bunch of other people on the collective level. You can buy quantum cell packs within the app, or you can continue to play the lower levels until you collect a huge number of cells, at which point you can convert them to artifacts. I didn't play the collective level with anyone else. I also unlocked the ghost level by buying a bunch of quantum cells.
