Hi, Try to move your cursor to the very top of the document, using your arrow keys. Once at the very top, insert a Page Break from the Insert menu then arrow up again so that your cursor is in the first blank page. Now, go up to the Insert menu and choose Table of Contents. It should put all your items on that first page. When I was testing and testing this, if my cursor was at the end of the document, I got the same error as you but when I moved it to the top, everything worked as it should. I placed the Page Break above the original first page of the document so that the body of the text would start on a new page after the Table of Contents.
A couple things to note though, the Table of Contents does not read properly with VO from within Pages. I printed a pdf copy from the Print dialog and looked at the Table of Contents in Single page mode from within Preview and it seemed correct. HTH. Later...
