Hi anouk, Only one environment can have access to the display at a time. So, check to make sure that the brailliant is connected to windows. You can do that in the USB menu under virtual machine.
Then don't forget that the classic brailliant is a serial device. There's a usb to serial adapter built into that unit so it doesn't work like a normal USB device. I haven't tried windows 8 yet, but it may very well have something against serial ports since they're 30 or so technology years old.
