Hi Phil,

The general way to import bookmarks from any browser into any other browser is
to use the File menu option to Export your bookmarks from the first browser,
copy the file over (if you're importing into a browser that's on another
computer), and then to use the File menu option of the second browser to
import.

In the case of Internet Explorer, I would rename the file extension from ".htm"
to ".html" before importing into any other browser (not just Safari), since
".htm" is specific to Internet Explorer.

If you want to read more details about using bookmarks and the way they are
organized in Safari, you can read one of my archived posts from this list:
• Re: importing favorites from ie to safari

You can generally find answers to topics in the Mail Archives. For example, I
didn't remember which posts I had written on this subject, but I was sure I had
written on this topic, so I went to the search text box of the macvisionaries
mail archive page, and typed in:
"from:Esther importing favorites"
(without the quotation marks), and pressed return. Then, on the page of search
results, which tells you the number of matches, gives you the links with the
subject titles, date, short excerpt of post containing your search terms, and
the author of the post, I just activated the first link and checked the
content.

You can also search the mac-access list posts on the Mail Archive, since you're
also a member of that list. And one of the items that was discussed on the
mac-access list that was not discussed on this list is SafariSort -- which is a
free application that lets you alphabetically organize your bookmarks that you
can find at the Macupdate site.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther
