I have this problem too and everybody you talk to will blame somebody else. Here are the steps I have to take to get it back on track:
1. Close your mail program 2. Go to the keychain manager which is found in applications 3. Delete the entries in there that deal with the smtp and imap for yahoo 4. Start Safari or whatever browser you use and log into your email account on line 5. Start your email and enter your password. This will probably work for a period of two weeks. This is what works for me anyway.
