While screen curtain will black out the screen, it does not turn off the backlighting so doing F1 a bunch of times will still save a bunch of battery life. I do wonder if screen curtain saves power from not running the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) since nothing is being put on the screen? Might be some help but turning of the backlight will help a lot.

Hi List,
Besides dimming my screen, is there anything else I can do to retain better battery life on my MacBook Pro, and if so how?
