> Hi Georgina, Whoa, Linux? Never played around with that, but maybe will give it a go sometime. I have heard lots of good things about it. What I ended up doing was creating a copy of everything on an external hard drive, and then reinstalled Leopard on the Mac. Currently Mountain Lion is downloading, and if the migration assistant works, I will use that to reload everything back onto the Mac. Never had to do this before, and it was kind of scary. A friend helped out, as I did not know where to start.
For some reason the DVD drive was not reading the disk, and that's why I installed OsX on the external hard drive. The computer is about 3.5 years old, running 10.8.2. There does not seem to be any hardware issues regarding this matter, except for getting the computer into safe mode, and putting it into recovery mode, after that. Have a good one.
