The particular plug in that I have didn't have any instructions referring to 
the command line. I'm going to check out the app that Annie mentioned, since I 
would like to do this without sighted help. But yes, you can get the Kindle 
book onto the Mac without sighted help, although VO is useless in the 
application, at least on my machine running Snow Leopard. When you buy the 
book, you can tell Amazon that you want it sent to your kindle for Mac 
application, and so when you open the Kindle app, the book will be there, not 
that you can do anything with it. <smile>
