I guess there's a couple of possibilities there. It's hard for me to know
exactly what the problem was given we don't have your dad here to tell us
exactly what his problem was, but here goes.

Firstly, you should be able to specify in Facetime settings, in the Settings
app of your iPHone, what details people can Facetime you on. If you have
selected your phone number, then people can Facetime you from any device (Mac
or iOS) using your phone number. It's probably a good idea to add at least one
email address as well though. It's probably a good idea to have these details
the same on all your Facetime enabled devices.

Secondly, Facetime only seems to work for contacts in your Contacts (previously
Address Book). So your dad would need your iPhone number in his Mac Contacts.

So subject to those above two points, your dad should be able to Facetime you
from his Mac using whatever details you have specified in your Facetime
settings, including your iPHone number. I struggle to keep up with which
numbers and emails my girlfriend has enabled for Facetime so I tend to just try
each one after the other whenever I want to Facetime her from my Mac, and
eventually I get through. Recently I've had best success with using her iPHone
number though, so this is definitely possible. Her iPad4 is authorised to use
her iPhone number for Facetime, so she usually answers my Facetime calls on her
iPad.

Best,
Nic
