is single user mode the mode that you boot into by holding the shift key as
the system powers up? It was recommended to me that I do that in order to
correct certain system problems. Anyway, I got to a basically gray screen
with no disk volumes mounted on the desktop, and I didn't have VoiceOver.
There was something that looked like a progress bar of sorts in the center
of the screen, but after a long while, I just rebooted normally.
Is VO available in this "single user mode"?

Subject: No drive mounted in single user mode?
.
Hi all,.
I am trying to run a memory test in single user mode. However, it seems that
my hard drive is not automatically mounted, so I of course have no access to
the utility I want to run. I have looked on Google, but no one else seems to
have this problem. All the instructions for memtest I have found say to just
run the command as though the drive is already mounted. I have bootcamp
enabled if that makes a difference. Thanks.
