How many screens do you have? I think after you tell it to record, if you have multiple screens, it wants you to click on the display which you want recorded. The good thing is it doesn't care where and defaults to the screen where your mouse was before you flipped to QuickTime player. So if you have your mouse pointer following your VO cursor then you can just navigate to a window on the screen you want to record, command tab to QT Player, start a screen recording and then just do a VO-shift-space to do the mouseclick. If you know the arrangements of the screen you can just fling you mouse left or right and click to do something similar.

I think this came up last month so you might also want to poke at the mailing
list archives. One way is to use the Quicktime Player and choose New Screen
Recording from the File Menu.
