I'd still try a genius appointment to see if they can unstick it. I've
had mine for three years now with no problems and that's with kids
beating on it and a bunch of trips riding in my backpack. Seems like the
stuck power button is a fluke. I also wonder if they can't look the unit
up by some serial number to find out its vintage. From what I've read in
other forums it does have a 1 year warranty and the serial number is
somewhere near the power button.

Hmm. I'm not sure I have the receit. And I'm not sure I really want another
one, since this one messed up so easily. Do they usually break so easily? I
mean I can still use the keyboard, but the power button seems to press in,
turning the keyboard on and off, randomly.

If you have a receipt, or some other proof of purchase, just bring it in to an
Apple store and show them the stuck power button.

Hi,
if you've had it for less than a year, you can probably get a new one from
Apple for free.

Well, I have one. But I got this one for some80, from Radio Shack. It has a
stuck power button, and the front, not the top where the keys are, but the
front is slightly scratched from a few drops.

Hi,
how about the Apple bluetooth keyboard? It costs $70 I believe. I've had mine
for about 2 and a half years now, and no issues.

Ah, OK, good. And do you know of a good, durable bluetooth or USB keyboard that
I could buy, for hopefully less than $80, for my Mac? I'd prefer it to be
bluetooth, so that I can also use it with my iPod.

Hi,
no. you don't need a trackpad. Is there use for one? sure. I mean, its just
another method of interfacing with your Mac. You might decide you like using it
for some tasks more than your keyboard. Especially if you happened to own an
IOS device before owning a Mac. The navigation gestures might be more familiar
to you.

Hi all. I have a Mac mini, as you all are aware. I have a bluetooth Apple
wireless keyboard, which I will either try to look into getting a less
expensive, but more durable, keyboard, as this one has a stuck power button, it
is stuck down, not sure how to get the spring to pop it back into place, or
even if there is a way. But things like that is why I want a better keyboard,
but I digress, and maybe will start another topic about that. Or I might change
the subject to include all excesseries. Yes, I'll do that before I send the
message; the original being only about trackpads. Anyways, is there a need for
a trackpad? Is there any convenience to having one?
