Phil, Indeed, all of the "included" loops in Garageband are in 4/4 time. When you purchase Main Stage, Apple's live performance tool for $29.00, you can download all of the additional Apple Loops. It's a very good deal, as all of the packs used to cost something in the neighborhood of $129 a piece. Anyway, there are a small amount of 3/4, 6/8, & 12/8 loops in these additional packs. However, it's pretty limited, still. So, IMO, you've got to start purchasing, downloading, scavenging other time signature loops.
