The instrument portion of the jampacks seem to be working fine, its just the
GarageBand loop browser that is acting squirrely. I think it is the
instruments that make up the greater portion of the download, with the loops
only being around 4GB.

Hmm, well do they show up as instruments at least?

MainStage is a "performance" app of some kind that lets you create
performances. I don't find it particularly easy to understand or work, and
it isn't 100% accessible
I am having alot of trouble getting the downloaded jampacks to show up in
GarageBand though. Maybe you'll have better luck.
They download fine, and are easily previewed in finder, but the GB loop
browser is not playing nice for me.

Wow, thanks a lot! What does MainStage do?

you can get all six GB jampacks through the MainStage app. it costs
around $30 and is available in the app store.
after downloading and running MainStage, you'll be confronted with a few
silent screens where VO won't work. This silent screen is where MainStage
is downloading critical data and it may take an hour or so to complete.
Once you've got MainStage running, select the "download additional
content" from the MainStage menu. There you can check off all the
jampacks you want, or just select "all content". its about 19 Gigabyte of
additional data and will take several hours to download. Again, the
download screen doesn't work with VO, and the only way to close the
download process is to force quit. So, just let it run and eventually
it'll download all the jampacks.
I'm having some trouble with the Loops installing properly into
GarageBands loop browser. But, all the files are there - its just that
loop browser seems a bit unstable and unreliable. I'm going to try to
manually import them into GB in case they didn't install correctly
through the MainStage app.

Ah, OK. Thanks a lot. I don't have $100 at the moment, but if I ever get
enough money and experience with garageband to need them, I might get
one.

You buy them from apple. The mac app store should have them so far as I
know but Google will show them up. From memory, there $100USD or
something similar.
Be aware, some of the older Jam packs don't install correctly with
modern macs. There is a way round this but someone else will have to
explain that as I never got it to work. It involves going into the Jam
pack and manually importing samples, instruments etc into garageband
rather than installing it normally.

Hi all. Somewhere I heard you can get "jam packs" for garage band so
that you can add more instruments to it. Where can I get these, and how
much money are they?
