Hi Gale. Just so you know, you put your message body into your subject line. In any event, when you first got your Mac and turned it on, you should've been able to see the wifi networks that were available to you. If you didn't, press VO+M, or ctrl+option+M twice to go to the secondary menu. VO+right until you hear Voiceover say, "Wifi no signal." Arrow down until you hear your friend's wifi network and press return. It'll ask you for your friend's password so go ahead and enter it and then you should be all set. HTH.
