Hi,

I'm guessing that she was simply not totally familiar with the use of VO and 
the Mac.  As long as the MacBook was released within the last three years or 
so, then the gestures will work.  She may have simply had the Trackpad 
commander turned off.  It is turned on by holding down the VO keys and doing a 
two-finger rotate clockwise or going into the VO Utility, to the Commanders 
section and turning on the Trackpad Commander in the Trackpad pane.

As mentioned, there are many additional commands that can be added in the 
Trackpad Commander and they are not all exactly the same as on the iPhone but 
they must be enabled first in order to work.
