This is correct, if it starts playing automatically it's fine, but the flash controls and content will not read. Adobe has made it clear they have no interest in fixing this on the mac. One thing you can do in the case of youtube, go to http://youtube.com/html5 Click the option to join the html5 trial. Once that is done, many of the videos will play using html 5 instead of flash and this will make the controls accessible. Eventually flash will totally be phased out in favor of html 5 but this may take a while.

So, am I right to conclude that apart from flash players that are controlled by HTML controls and players that load automatically like youtube, flash movies are completely inaccessible for VoiceOver users on the Mac?
