Hi, An even easier and more automated way of doing this is to use the PhotoStream service in iCloud. Simply go to your iCloud settings on your iPhone, make sure that PhotoStream is enabled. Also, do the same in the iCloud pane of System Prefs. Then in iPhoto Prefs you can tweak the settings so that only new photos from your iPhone go up to the PhotoStream and not all new photos. Once this is all set up, your photos taken on the iPhone will automatically be pushed up to iCloud and pushed to your iPhoto Library. These photos are kept in the PhotoStream directory for about 30 days but are automatically placed into your iPhoto Library as well so if you forget to do anything with them prior to the 30 day limit, you don't lose anything.
