OK. I have been playing now since last Wednesday with the new I O S 6, and
I must say, so far I like what I've seen. That was... until... I opened the
music app. What a mess!
First of all, I find that half of the time when I tap the tabs across the
bottom, like artists, songs, playlists, albums, etc. they do not get
activated. It's very inconsistent. Sometimes if I am lucky they do, but
generally not.
Once in whichever tab I wish to be focused on, if I try locating my table
index on the righthand side of the screen, so that I can move letter by
letter subgroup, I find the table index slider isn't there any longer. I
hear that from a visual standpoint, it is still there, and that in fact,
nothing in the whole app seems to have changed, but now, from a Voiceover
perspective, I'm being rendered to turning my rotor to headings, then one
finger flicking up and down to move letter by letter quickly through the
list. Not that there is per sey anything wrong with that method, although
it feels extremely awquard.
Here's the other issue. I am also noticing that I may have an artist or say
a song title etc. in the list. I only visually seem to have one instance of
the item listed, however, both flicking through, as well as using the item
chooser list is yielding sometimes, upwards of literally 10 or more
instances of the same item before moving on to the next item. It's almost
like I may flick and hear Beach Boys, 10 times before I then hear Beatles.
I know I don't have 10 different artists called Beach Boys. Visually, my
mother even confirmed that it only is showing the entry one time only. It's
like it's just getting stuck somehow.
I did call Apple, yesterday, and they were using an IPhone 4S just like I
have, and were able to also reproduce identically the same problems I
described.
Also, it seems that table indexes aren't just busted in the music app. When
I went into the Contacts app, the table index isn't working there either,
even though again, a sighted individual did confirm with me that visually,
the slider bar is there and that nothing seems visually to have changed.
Apple Accessibility has assured me that they are going to file this as a
bug, but you all may also want to call and let them know as well. The more
people who let them know, the more likely they'll be to fix it.
Chris.
