Thanks. I found a Wikipedia article about the key and sent it to the folks at
Bookshare, their engineers are looking at it now. Basically, it’s a four leaf
clover, but it shows up blank in their books so it’s hard to tell if they mean
shift option key or shift option command key.

Subject: Re: Command key image?

Easiest thing is probably to copy it from somewhere else. Here is one I found:

⌘

Which for me reads something sounding like "Mahkgo", whatever that is.

In html it can be represented by:

⌘

Some sites said to just hunt through the Special Characters palette from the
Edit menu and search for Place of Interest. Once you do that you'll have to
navigate to the Character Sections Table and then Characters after the Unicode
Name label. Interact with that and then you can VO-shift-m to bring up a
contextual menu to copy the character info. If you paste that it will give you
three lines, the first being the actual symbol followed by some info about it
like this:

⌘
PLACE OF INTEREST SIGN
Unicode: U+2318, UTF-8: E2 8C 98

Another site said this Applescript will present the symbol in a dialog that you
can copy from.

display dialog «data utxt2318» as Unicode text.

I'm not an Applescripter so I can't verify that one. Nowhere did somebody seem
to have some kind of raptor-claw-shift-tilde-option-something key combo to just
type the silly thing.

Does anyone know how I can type a typographical command key image? Every
Bookshare book about macs has a blank space where this should be, and I want to
show them what I mean by the image so hopefully they can fix the problem
ongoing.

Thanks.
