You can check the mail archives under my name for more details but the short answer is that Adobe has chosen not to support using Flash with voiceover. Flash has been problematic on all platforms but it is pretty much unusable on OSX. Some flash widgets provide external HTML controls such as video players but if you are being presented curriculum inside a flash box then you're not going to get very far. Flash also fails on most mobile devices as well and is entirely proprietary (as opposed to web standards) so it's slowly going away, but apparently this vendor has not noticed yet.

Hi guys. I've noticed this a few weeks ago when I bought my Skype
credit but didn't do anything because I thought it wouldn't crash
so much. But now that it's crashing more, this is ridiculous.
Skype keeps crashing when I use the dialpad in a call. For
example, I use Skype to call my bank. When I press the number 1
to check my balance and everything, Skype crashes. Has anyone
    else experienced this?

    Hi all,

I just tried to install an extension in Safari. Somehow I screwed
it up, because after that, Safari would give me the busy message
every time I pressed a key. Happily, I hadn't yet installed the
latest update to ML, and when I did that, the problem went away.
So, can someone enlighten me as to the correct way to install an
    extension?
    thanks in advance,

    Hello,
I had problems with streaming music to me airport express.
The music was streaming from my macbook air with osx 10.8.1 with
iTunes 10.6.3 and airport express version 7.6.1.
The problem: there where regularly interruptions in the played music.
This wasn't happening when voiceover wasn't on (and not only when
    voiceover wasn't speaking).

So, on the macbook air, with voiceover off : no problems but when
I turned voiceover on, there where breaks in the stream.

Streaming from the iphone4/ipad2 was also fine.

    Does this make sense?

    any hints are very welcome.
    Kind regards,
    William

What worked for me is not to have Safari open the downloaded file.
Then when I go to the downloads folder, each zipped file has the
    correct name.
I just unzip them, and put the folders where I want them.

I just spoke with the ATnT store and the guy there said the
iPhone 4 is just as good as the new one coming out and that I
should go ahead and get the old one. Does anyone have any
knowledge about this? Does he know what he is talking about? Mel

    Marianne Denning <maria...@denningweb.com
    <mailto:maria...@denningweb.com>> Sep 05 02:34PM -0400

I would wait until after Sept. 12 to see what the announcement is.
The price of the older IPhones will probably drop once the new one
comes out. You probably want the 4s rather than the 4.

    Taylor Scott <taylor9...@gmail.com <mailto:taylor9...@gmail.com>>
    Sep 05 01:54PM -0500

The AT&T guy knows as much as you do about the new up coming iPhone.
The 4 is a good device, the 4S is a little better, and it is a safe
bet the new unreleased iPhone will have more power and a few new
    bells
    and wistles.

The only people who know what the iPhone will or won't have, wouldn't
be risking there job by talking about it.

If possible, just wait until the 12th, then you can make the best
informed disision when all the facts are announced.

Sounds like the guy at the store wants to move product, to make
    room for the new iPhones.

Don't go for the iPhone4, especially if you use your phone for
OCR, bill identification, video magnification. and other
operations that require a good camera. The 4s has an 8 megapixel
camera, which people seem happy with for the afore mentioned
purposes, and it's a safe bet that the iPhone5 (announced
tomorrow, probably shipping a week or two later) will have an
even better camera, more ram, 4g support, and more features. Even
if you don't care about all that, the 4 and 4s will drop in price
the further from the new iPhone you get. For instance, my sister
was able to pick up an iPhone 4 a couple weeks ago for just $50
(with contract, obviously). That's a great price, considering the
4s would be $200. Anyway, short answer: the iPhone5 will be a lot
cooler and have more features, so at least wait until September
12 to see what it has before you decide anything.

    John,

Sorry for the late response. I don't do a lot of looking at this
list anymore. Eclipse is written by IBM so there is a bit more of
a chance that it is accessible. It is written in java, however.
You should be able to download it from developerworks within the
    IBM site.

Eclipse is a framework for building development environments and
has several plug-ins. My direct experience was with the NetCool
mib2rules system that could parse an SNMP MIB and produce rules
files used to create NetCool alarms. I used it on windows, but
there was also a linux installer. With Windows even when I
dropped the access bridge into the special JRE directory I was
not able to get the installer to work. However the system worked
with a few flukes once installed. Considering the Macintoshes
better handling of interacting with regions of the screen and the
fact that IBM used SWING to develop the UI you might have some
    luck with this.

You might want to also ask one of the Macintosh blind friendly
    developers list.
