Dear listers, My goal is to backup my own and my wife's mac to our time capsule, both having our own storage space on the drive, so that we cannot see each other's backup files. Also, we would like a shared space in time capsule, to share public files between our 2 accounts. Is what I'm wanting to do, possible with time capsule? I haven't found this explained clearly so far. I have everything set up now, so that both our macs get backed up to the time capsule, but we can see each other's stuff. I think this is due to some default setting that i don't understand yet.
In the disks tab sheet of airport utility, when configuring time capsule, I set my time capsule to allow us access, using the machine password. I think what this is, is the master password for our machines that unlocks the keychain during boot time, that we type in to get into our macs. Is this assumption correct? If so, then why do I see my wife's backup files when I access the time capsule? A mac has more than one user account if desired, so that more than one person can be using it, while none of their stuff is implicitly shared, unless a user wants to do that. So, I would think that a time capsule is similar, having one storage, but with more than one user account, each with his own public and shared file space, if desired. I can't get my mind around this yet. Can you explain how time capsule handles multiple people by default, or with accounts as time capsule names it?
