What I can tell you is that I use Skype as my telephone and Internet voice chat client quiet successfully. What I can tell you is that Skype Home, the feature you're attempting to connect, works only for those users of Facebook who also have Skype and have signed up to let Skype access their FB accounts; all other people or groups that you subscribe to will not show up in the Skype Home list. So, if you're intending to use it as a full facebook client, you're going to have precious little joy of it. Thus, I know that Skype has a proven track record of doing what you're asking it to do successfully. Since "not responding," does not indicate, specifically, a flaw in the program itself, merely that the application is currently not being active, and could be waiting for data to come back from the net, reinstalling the program is not the most expedient nor efficient approach, and I doubt doing so would significantly affect the outcome.
