Hi, guys, For those of you, like me, who use Gmail to access your mail and the Apple Mail client to read your mail, if you want philters on your messages, or even if you don't , you may occasionally find that messages are duplicated because of Gmail's folder system (which they call labels). I found an article just now that explained how to clear up this confusion, and have successfully applied it.
I don't know if there is an accessible version of gmail.com, but I went into settings and clicked on the labels tab (it took me some time to play with it to figure out how to get there) and unchecked everything concerned with "Show in iMap list." This way all I have is a single folder in Mail.app which says, "Gmail," where all my messages are. With this in mind, I am now going to go and recreate my Mac Visionaries rule with a mailbox in Mail, and hopefully this will clarify things. I have no idea how that will affect things -- if messages may be missed because they are then not pulled to the mail client because of being tagged as "important," etc. and therefore may not appear in my filtered list of messages, but it is definitely worth a try, and I wanted to pass this tip along to others. In other words, if it helps clear up some confusion, all the better. I was getting very tired of duplicate messages. They are probably still on Gmail's server, which I would prefer they not be -- so maybe I should uncheck or just remove some of the labels all together. I'm not sure, and if anyone has thoughts on this, I'm open to hearing them. In the meantime, I'm off to create a rule which will hopefully keep me more organized. On another note, is anyone familiar with the new VIP feature in Mail and how that might work with VoiceOver? As I understand it, it is a way to be notified of an incoming message form a particular person, and I suppose the notification arrives via notification center?
