The way I do it under Lion - and I haven't updated to the latest dropbox yet, 
is to find the file I wish to have a link for in my folder, press vo+shift+m to 
activate contextual menu and arrow down to "copy link" and press vo+spacebar on 
it. In this way the link for the file will be placed to your clipboard and you 
can then paste it wherever you wish.
