Thanks, Alex for such a swift reply. The desperate thing was though that the disk was not showing in the finder anywhere and I wasn't able to perform the eject command. I have just done a mad search on the internet, and initially it seemed from other people's experience that nothing else would do but a hammer. And then suddenly somebody posted a solution: I went to disk utility and found the super drive in the table of volumes and under file menu, I found the eject option. It worked!!! I am so relieved. I've only recently spent £70 on the super drive.
Thanks, Alex, and to all the others too. Andrew On 30 Jul 2012, at 18:56, Alex Hall wrote: > Plug it back in, then go to /volumes in finder. Is it there?
