Hi Allison, I don't want to publicly embarrass you; but, I'm afraid your
private answer must surely have been meant for me off list; but, it's out
there now. Oh well.

I did want, however, tu publicly address something you posted about. Remember
the other day you complained that Voice Over was repeating things in finder and
someone told you how to turn Kind off? Well, I think I worked out how come
that the repeats are happening.
As we know, it used to be best practice to make certain that file
extensions were turned on in the finder preferences; because, if not, it was
tricky to tell what one was focused on. It would appear that, with Mountain
Lion, this is not so necessary as it once was. Why? Simple. With kind turned
on, one gets told by Voice Over whether one is passing over a .wav or .mp3 file
or a folder. Therefore, with file extensions turned off, one can still tell
what kind of item one is focused on even so so long as kind is turned on.
Thus, the repeats. In short, turn off file extensions in finder preferences,
leave kind on, and you can still determine exactly what manner of file it is.
turn kind off, however, and you'll need to turn file extensions back on.

Now, just need a bit of a refresher where to turn kind off. Thanks.

Sincerely,
The Constantly Barefooted Ray!!!
