Yes, I'm really hoping for more clerification to this. When I first brought up the topic of bootcamp, most responses indicated that there wasn't anything to worry about, and now I'm hearing the opposite. Has anyone out there actually tried running bootcamp after updating to ML, and if so, what happened? Thanks! Missy

Well, after some other discussion on this list, my main concern is now my bootcamp. I use windows a lot, mostly for gaming and web browsing, and I'd hate to lose that. My data is backed up with Carbonite, but I still would not like to lose access to windows. Your machine will restart once, wait a few seconds to turn VO back on to monitor progress, and it'll restart when it's finished, and you're good to go. -----Original Message----- From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com [mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Alex Hall Sent: Wednesday, July 25, 2012 3:17 PM To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: possible to download, but not install, 10.8? Cool, no copying required then. Thanks, I'll switch into mac and do this right now! I just hope I can overcome the temptation to go ahead with the rest of the upgrade process... knowing my luck, though, it would be the one time I'd have a serious error, then I'd have to get a whole new computer... but maybe that wouldn't be a bad thing - I'd love a Macbook! Okay, one final question then. Can I simply quit the installer, and leave it in my applications folder? I'll want to install right from my hard drive, just not for a couple days. Will it be removed or something if I leave it there? On 7/25/12, Daniel Miller <miller...@gmail.com> wrote: Download it like normal, but when the installer opens, you'll need to close it. After you close it, find it in your applications folder and copy it to an external source. -----Original Message----- From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com [mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Alex Hall Sent: Wednesday, July 25, 2012 3:08 PM To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: possible to download, but not install, 10.8? So, would I use the app store for this? If so, how? Could I not simply tell it not to install? Sorry, I'm just a bit confused as to how this would work; I've never tried to not install an app from the app store before. On 7/25/12, Daniel Miller <miller...@gmail.com> wrote: You can, yes. All you need to do is copy the installer app from your applications folder to another source, such as an external drive or USB key. Be sure that said destination is larger than 4GB, though. -----Original Message----- From: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com [mailto:macvisionaries@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Alex Hall Sent: Wednesday, July 25, 2012 3:03 PM To: macvisionaries Subject: possible to download, but not install, 10.8? Hi all, I am still here at Perkins School for the Blind as a volunteer, but only until Friday. The internet here is really good, and the internet at home can sometimes be slow or drop out for no reason. So, is there any way I could download the 10.8 file here, but not install it? I'm holding off because I have a mini with no monitor, and I don't want something to go wrong and have no way for anyone to read any error messages that might come up. So, I'd rather download 10.8 here with good internet but no screen, then install it at home with a screen but possibly bad internet.
