Hi Eric,

To update applications that you purchased in the Mac App Store, including
Type2Phone, you need to open the Mac App Store and select the "Updates" radio
button in the toolbar. I usually do this by launching the the App Store from
the dock and navigating to the "Updates" radio button by using the Command-F
shortcut to go to the "Find" field in the toolbar and then left arrowing (or
VO-Left arrowing, if you don't have Quick Nav turned on) to the "Updates" Radio
button. Here are the directions assuming you are using Lion, and have Quick Nav
turned on.

1. Navigate to the dock with either VO-D or Control-F3, and then type "a" or "a
p" to navigate to the App Store.
2. Open the App Store by simultaneously pressing the up and down arrow keys.
3. Navigate to the "Updates" radio button with Command-F followed by Left
arrow, then press your up and down arrow keys to show "Updates"
4. You'll be told the number of updates available, and be given the opportunity
to use the "Update all" button.
5. I usually review the individual updates, which you can find listed by using
your web rotor (VO-U) and then setting this (e.g., using your Up+Left arrow
keys) to "Images", where each app that is in the update list will be
represented by a single link image entry. You can either arrow down the menu of
images or, if you're specifically looking for the "Type2Phone" update, start
typing the first letters of the app's name to find it. Then either VO-Space or
press the up and down arrow keys to go to that update entry.
6. Right arrow to the entry and keep arrowing through to read through the
description of the updated changes before deciding whether you want to apply
the update by right arrowing to the update button and pressing it.
7. You'll be prompted in a dialog window to supply your Apple ID (probably
already filled in, in which case you'll be focused on the password field) and
password.
8. I'd just close or quit the App Store at this point. If you check the
application in Finder (e.g. Command-Shift-A to applications and then type in
the first few letters of the name), you'll find that the modification date has
been updated. (I use list view for the Finder entries, so this gets announced.)

HTH. Of course, you can use the update all button for simplicity, but a
certain cynicism causes me to check review comments on the latest updates
before applying them. And I also have a tendency to not update immediately if
an app is working well.

Cheers,

Esther
