Well, for one thing, it does it's processing locally, not in the cloud. That's convenient because it means you don't have to be connected to the net and it's also nice from a security standpoint. It's also much faster processing locally.
The featureset of the Eyepal is not really worth the price point it's true; never-the-less, the fact that you can simply plug it in and it works is a huge benefit. I was funded for one, so I bought it and I rely on it. If I'd had to buy it myself the price would be a showstopper. But it does what the brochure says.
