Hi Alex, As Kirsten said, if you visit the web site you can download a trial demo. I'll paste in the information in a post from April, which would also come up immediately if you did a search of the Mail Archive site for this list, and type into the text box something like: ABBYY Finereader trial sort:newest then press return. (Alternatively, a search like "from:Esther ABBYY trial" would also bring this up as the first result).
Here's the link to the page where you can get a trial download of ABBYY Finereader Express: http://www.abbyy.com/finereader_for_mac/trial/# You can also just purchase it from the Mac App Store for $99.99 (but there's no available trial download when you use that site): http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/abbyy-finereader-express/id412310371?mt=12 The price is standard, although I was surprised to see that they dropped the Mac App Store price to $49.99 on Black Friday (the Friday after Thanksgiving) last year. It was either just for that day, or possibly the weekend, and I've never known them to do that before. By the way, using the Mail Archive for this list to search for information is a wonderful resource. You can also read the posts on that site if you just want to keep tabs on what's going on: http://www.mail-archive.com/macvisionaries%40googlegroups.com/ I'll also comment to Kirsten that I've been able to read off protected PDF forms created with Adobe Reader software with ABBYY FineReader by screen capturing the window for each page and then opening the images in ABBYY FineReader.
