The only thing you would need to buy down the road is any upgrades, if you think the features/fixes would be worth it. Generally there isn't an 'upgrade price' since the things are bundled for free or cheap to begin with. While iWorks may have its issues compared to office, you certainly can't beat the price - $60 for all thee vs. about $180 for the 'home' version of MS Office. Given that MS Office doesn't work at all with voiceover it wouldn't even be worth it if it was free.
