I might have been the only person using it in Snow Leopard, but I usually did 
this with:
VO-shift-J  VO-shift-up  It is almost too bad that jump mode was replace by 
jump to popup in LIon, I have yet to find jump to popup working for me, though 
I have not tried very hard.
